Dear EAPs,
The Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) would like to remind all Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs) and Candidate EAPs to ensure that their annual registration fees are paid and kept up to date. Failure to pay the required fees may result in a change in your registration status and could ultimately lead to suspension or deregistration from the EAPASA register.
In terms of the S24H Registration Authority Regulations, 2016, registration authorities are empowered to determine and review fees for applications, renewal of registration, appeals, and annual fees payable by registered candidate Environmental Assessment Practitioners and registered Environmental Assessment Practitioners (Regulation 9).
Furthermore, Regulation 18 of the same regulations provides that a registration authority may terminate the registration of a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner or Candidate Environmental Assessment Practitioner if the prescribed annual fee is not paid within 90 days from the date it becomes due. In addition, the EAPASA Constitution, 2020 provides that membership of the Association commences only once the approved member has paid the applicable membership fees for the respective category of membership (Clause 8.1.2.2).
The Constitution further states that a member’s membership and associated benefits may be suspended or terminated if the applicable membership fees remain unpaid within three (3) months from the date of the invoice issued for that membership year (Clause 8.2.2.1).
Registered practitioners are therefore encouraged to regularly check their registration status and ensure that all outstanding fees are settled to avoid any interruption to their professional standing. Maintaining an active registration status is essential for continuing to practise as a registered EAP and for remaining compliant with the requirements of EAPASA and the applicable regulatory framework.
Only EAPs in Good Standing can re-register as EAPs. What does it mean to be in Good Standing?
- Payment of Annual fees must be paid
- EAPs need to be up to date with their submission of CPD
- EAPs need to be in compliance with the code of conduct
